ChatGPT SEO Agency
A ChatGPT visibility agency that logs every run: help ChatGPT find, describe and cite your brand.
GeoAeoLab is a ChatGPT SEO agency. We work on the things you control when ChatGPT names or cites a brand: your entity data, your presence in the sources it cites, pages worth citing and access for OpenAI's search crawler. We check every change with repeated, dated runs.
See where ChatGPT mentions and cites you today, recorded by run and date.

How ChatGPT mentions and cites brands
Below is what OpenAI publishes in its documentation.
Platform documentation
Answers with and without web search
When ChatGPT uses web search, the chat shows search results and citations with links to sources. See the ChatGPT web search documentation. According to OpenAI's crawler documentation, sites appear in ChatGPT search through OAI-SearchBot. Not every answer comes with search results and links. OpenAI doesn't document how ChatGPT picks a source for a given answer, which is why we measure instead of promising.

Mention vs citation
A mention is your brand named in the text of an answer. A citation is an answer that links to a page. ChatGPT can name your brand and still link to a competitor's site or a third-party review, so you can be mentioned without being cited. We count the two separately (see how we measure). When your brand is named but the link goes to a competitor, see ChatGPT brand citation mismatch.
There is no "rank" in ChatGPT
A ChatGPT answer has no positions the way a Google results page does. It is written text, not a list of ten links. The same question can produce different answers across runs, models and dates, with search and without it. Account and workspace settings can also change what an answer looks like. That is why nobody can honestly sell you "#1 in ChatGPT". What can be measured is how often your brand is named and cited on a fixed set of prompts, run several times. That is how we measure it.
What our ChatGPT optimization services cover
We work in four areas. Each one covers a part of the picture that you can influence.
#openai-crawlers
OpenAI crawler access
We start with your robots.txt. OAI-SearchBot is the crawler behind ChatGPT search: if it is blocked, your site isn't shown in ChatGPT search answers, though navigational links may remain. OpenAI recommends allowing it. GPTBot collects content that may be used to train models, and it is set independently of OAI-SearchBot. That choice is yours, and we review these settings with you. ChatGPT-User visits pages when a user asks it to and doesn't decide whether you appear in search. After a robots.txt change, OpenAI's search systems need about 24 hours to pick it up. We also check the basics: main content in HTML without relying on JavaScript, indexing and your sitemap. Details are in OpenAI's crawler documentation. If you are considering llms.txt, see llms.txt and AI visibility.
#brand-entity
Brand entity
Inconsistent facts about your brand are a risk wherever they are read: your name, what you do, who you serve and where. We align them across your site, your profiles and the directories you control. Where the data is inconsistent, we correct it at the source: your site and your profiles. This is one part of our full AI search offer.
#chatgpt-sources
Sources ChatGPT cites
For your category's prompts, we look at which sources ChatGPT links to: trade publications, directories, review sites, documentation, public discussions such as Reddit. Then we work with those sources honestly: accurate data in profiles, disclosed participation on behalf of your brand, PR with a real news hook. We don't do hidden paid mentions or fake accounts.
#citable-content
Pages worth citing
A page is worth citing when it holds primary information: what exactly you do, specifications and terms, your method, and your own data if you have it. We build or rework those pages with you. We don't produce mass-made pages for prompts.
How a ChatGPT engagement runs
Four steps, in this order.
- 1
ChatGPT baseline
We fix the prompt set and run it several times: where ChatGPT names you, where it cites you, and whom it links to instead. This is the ChatGPT baseline.
- 2
Fix access and entity
OAI-SearchBot, indexing, and your brand data on your site and in your profiles. We tell you up front what we need from your team: access and product facts.
- 3
Work on sources and pages
The sources ChatGPT cites in your category, and the pages worth citing. We do this work ourselves.
- 4
Re-run the same prompts
Same prompt set, same model and search mode when they are available, new date. The report shows what moved and what didn't.
We agree the timeline with you before work starts.
Need the same work across Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews? See generative engine optimization.
What we can do, and what we don't promise
ChatGPT answers change between runs, models and dates, with search and without it, and ChatGPT decides what goes into any given answer. What we offer is a method: improve your chances, measure, report.
We do
- Check and set up access for OAI-SearchBot.
- Align brand data where it differs.
- Show which sources ChatGPT cites in your category and work with them honestly.
- Build pages that give ChatGPT something to cite.
- Re-run the same prompts and show what moved and what didn't.
We don't promise
- That ChatGPT will name, cite or recommend your brand.
- A "rank" or "position" in ChatGPT.
- A number of mentions or visits from ChatGPT.
- That a mention, once it appears, will still be there in later runs.
We don't use
- Hidden paid mentions.
- Fake reviews and fake accounts.
- Prompt injection or hidden text aimed at ChatGPT.
- Mass-produced pages made for prompts.
- ChatGPT ads presented as SEO.
Hidden text and mass-produced pages also count as spam under Google's spam policies.
How we measure ChatGPT visibility
Only two measurements taken the same way can be compared. This is what we fix in every run.
- 1
A fixed prompt set
We agree the prompts for your category with you and lock them before the first run. We compare only measurements made on the same set.
- 2
Model and search mode
For every answer we record the model, if ChatGPT shows it, and whether web search was used.
- 3
A date on every run
Answers change over time, so every run is dated.
- 4
Several runs per prompt
The same prompt gives different answers, so we run each one more than once. One screenshot is not a measurement.
- 5
Four things counted separately
Your brand named. The answer citing your page. The answer citing a third-party source about you. A competitor named instead of you.
- 6
Account conditions recorded
An answer can depend on the account and workspace settings, so we record the account conditions of every run.

Scope & pricingon request
Scope depends on

- 02the size of the prompt set
- 03markets and languages
- 04how often we measure
- 05how much content and technical work is needed
Start with a ChatGPT mentions audit
Before we change anything, we measure where ChatGPT mentions and cites you now. The audit can cover ChatGPT only; we agree the scope with you. It's the first thing a ChatGPT SEO agency should do, and the baseline every later run is compared against. Learn more about the AI visibility audit.
Frequently asked questions
What does a ChatGPT SEO agency do?
A ChatGPT SEO agency works on the things you control when ChatGPT names or cites a brand, then measures whether the answers changed. At GeoAeoLab that means four areas: crawler access, brand entity, cited sources and pages worth citing.
Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend our brand?
No. ChatGPT decides what goes into an answer, and answers change between runs, models and dates. We improve your chances, measure and report. See what we don't promise.
Do you sell "rank in ChatGPT" services?
No, because there is no rank in ChatGPT: an answer is text, not a list of positions (see there is no "rank" in ChatGPT). Instead, we work on the things you control, and we measure how often your brand is named and cited.
Should we block GPTBot?
That is your decision. GPTBot relates to training models and OAI-SearchBot relates to ChatGPT search; they are set independently, as OpenAI's crawler documentation explains. If OAI-SearchBot is blocked, your site isn't shown in ChatGPT search answers. We go through these settings with you.
Is ChatGPT SEO different from Google SEO?
The technical base is shared: access, indexing and content. What differs is the platform, the crawler and how you measure. You don't need to start from scratch.
Do you only work on ChatGPT?
No. ChatGPT is one engine of several, alongside Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. For work across all of them, see generative engine optimization.
Is this the same as advertising in ChatGPT?
No. ChatGPT has advertising, which is a separate paid product from OpenAI (its ad-review crawler, OAI-AdsBot, is listed in OpenAI's crawler documentation). We work on organic answers and don't sell ads.
How much does ChatGPT SEO cost?
On request. The scope depends on the size of the prompt set, the markets, how often we measure, and how much work there is on sources and pages. You can start with an audit: Audit ChatGPT mentions.
