Generative Engine Optimization Services
Help AI engines find, understand and cite your brand: measured, dated, repeatable.
Our generative engine optimization services (GEO) work on what ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews rely on when they name and cite a brand: your company data, the sources they cite, content worth citing, and access for their search bots. As a generative engine optimization agency, we do the work ourselves and check every change with repeated runs, logged by engine, model and date.
We'll walk you through the GEO work we'd do for your brand and how we'd measure it.

What generative engine optimization is
Generative engine optimization is the work of making it possible for AI engines to find, understand, name and cite your brand. A mention means the answer names your brand. A citation means the answer points to a page or source. They are different outcomes, and we count them separately (see how we measure).
GEO stands on ordinary indexing and does not replace SEO. For the full picture across Google and AI answers, see our full AI search optimization offer.
How AI engines find the sources they cite
Below is only what the platforms themselves publish in their documentation.
Platform documentation
Google AI Overviews and AI Mode
Google says its AI features have no additional requirements and need no special optimization: a page must be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet. Special markup and "AI text files" are not needed. These features may use "query fan-out", running several related searches across subtopics, and show a wider set of supporting links.

Platform documentation
ChatGPT search
According to OpenAI, sites appear in ChatGPT search results through OAI-SearchBot. A site that blocks OAI-SearchBot will not be shown in ChatGPT search answers, though navigational links may still appear. GPTBot is used for model training and is configured separately.

Platform documentation
Perplexity
According to Perplexity, PerplexityBot exists to "surface and link websites in search results" and is not used to train models. Perplexity-User visits a page when a user asks, and may include a link to it in the answer.
Platform documentation
Gemini
The Google-Extended token controls whether your content is used to train Gemini models and for grounding in Gemini Apps. It does not affect inclusion in Google Search and is not a ranking signal.
The documentation describes how bots access a site and what indexing requires. It does not describe how an engine picks the sources for a particular answer. So we open access, do the work, and measure. We don't promise. For llms.txt, see how to test llms.txt for AI visibility.
What our GEO services cover
Our generative engine optimization services work in four areas. Each one changes what engines can find and trust about you.
#brand-entity
Brand entity
Engines need consistent basics: your company name, what you do, who it's for, where you operate. We align those facts across your site, your profiles and the directories you control. An About page and Organization markup are hygiene here, not a lever. If your brand is described differently or wrongly somewhere, we correct it at the source: your site and your profiles.
#cited-sources
Sources AI answers cite
Answers lean on sources beyond your own site. Using the prompt set, we find which ones the engines cite in your category: industry publications, directories and catalogs, review sites, documentation, public discussions such as Reddit. We then work with them openly: accurate data in profiles, participation disclosed as coming from your brand, PR when there is real news. We don't buy unlabeled placements, write "independent" articles ourselves, or run fake accounts.
#citable-content
Content worth citing
guidance on helpful contentA page gets cited when it holds something worth pointing to: what you do, specifications and terms, your method, your own data if you have it. We build and sharpen those pages and keep them accurate. We don't mass-produce pages for prompts. Google's guidance on helpful content sets the bar.
#technical-access
Technical access
Search bots must be able to reach and read your pages. We check robots.txt for OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Googlebot, indexing status, whether main content is in the HTML without depending on JavaScript, and the sitemap. Training bots such as GPTBot and Google-Extended are a separate setting and your decision; we review these settings with you.
How a GEO engagement runs
Four steps, in this order.
- 1
Baseline
We fix a prompt set for your category and run it several times in the engines we agree on with you. We record where your brand is named, where it is cited, and which sources are cited instead of you.
Start with a baseline audit - 2
Plan
From the baseline, we set what to do in each of the four areas and in what order. You see the plan before work begins.
- 3
Work through the plan
Entity, sources, content, technical access: we do the work. If we need access or product facts from your team, we say so up front.
- 4
Re-measure and report
Same prompts, same engines and models, new date. The report shows what moved and what didn't.
We agree the timeline with you before work starts.
What we can do, and what we don't promise
AI answers change between runs, models and dates, and the engine decides which source lands in a given answer. What we offer is a method: improve your chances, measure, report.
We do
- Show which sources the engines cite in your category.
- Correct company data where it differs, starting at the source.
- Build pages that are worth citing.
- Open access for the engines' search bots.
- Repeat the measurement on the same prompt set and show what moved and what didn't.
We don't promise
- That any engine will name, cite or recommend your brand.
- A number of citations.
- A place in an AI answer or in Google.
- That a citation, once it appears, will still be there in later runs.
We don't use
Hidden paid mentions. Fake reviews, or "independent" articles written or paid for by us. Fake accounts. Spam in discussions. Hidden text or prompt injection aimed at models. Mass-produced pages made for prompts. See Google's spam policies.
How we measure GEO results
GEO work shows up only when you compare two measurements taken the same way.
- 1
Prompts agreed before the first run
We settle the prompt set with you and lock it before the baseline. We compare only measurements made on the same set.
- 2
Every answer logged
Each answer is stored with its engine, its model (when the platform shows it) and its date.
- 3
More than one run
Answers vary between runs, models and dates, so each prompt runs several times. One screenshot is not a measurement.
- 4
Mentions and citations kept apart
We count separately: your brand named (mention); the answer linking to your page (citation); the answer citing a third-party source about you; a competitor named instead.
- 5
Cited sources recorded
We note which sources the answers cite, so we can see whether work on sources AI answers cite reached the answers.

Frequently asked questions
What are generative engine optimization services?
Generative engine optimization services are work that improves the chances that AI engines name and cite your brand. We do it in four areas: brand entity, sources, citable content and technical access. See what our GEO services cover.
Can you guarantee ChatGPT or Google AI Overviews will cite us?
No. The engine decides which sources go into an answer, and answers change between runs, models and dates. We improve your chances, measure and report. Details are in what we don't promise.
Which AI engines do you work on?
ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. We agree the set for your brand on the strategy call or after the audit.
How is GEO different from AEO?
GEO aims for engines to name and cite your brand. AEO, answer engine optimization, aims for pages that give a ready answer to a specific question.
Does GEO replace our SEO work?
No. It builds on it. Google says the same SEO fundamentals apply to its AI features and that no separate requirements exist (Google's guidance on AI features). Pages still need to be crawlable and indexed.
How long does GEO take to show results?
It depends on the engines, your category and what needs fixing. A change is visible only by re-measuring the same prompt set, and no one can honestly name the timing in advance. We re-measure on a schedule we agree with you and report what moved.
What should we ask a GEO agency before hiring one?
Five questions are enough to start (the full checklist is in our guide to the best GEO agencies):
- How do you measure?
- Which engines, models and dates will appear in the report?
- What do you not promise?
- Which methods do you not use?
- Who does the work?
Our answers are in how we measure.
How much does GEO cost?
On request. Scope depends on the number of engines, the size of the prompt set, markets and languages, how often we measure, and the amount of content and technical work. You can start with an AI visibility audit.
